Employed by veterinarians for many decades to evaluate horse's bone structures, conventional films are still successfully used today by many veterinarians. Over the last decade, digital radiographs have become available and are much more prevalent in equine practice. Digital radiographs offer many advantages compared to conventional radiographs: the image quality is remarkably improved in detail (greatly helping with diagnoses); exposures can be manipulated; images can be magnified; and digital images can be stored, emailed, or burned to a CD.
